The members of DEMO_net can be grouped into the following five categories:

1. DEMO-net partners: The network of excellence partnership is constituted to focus first on academic research, but secondly on co-operations with practitioners. Partner institutions stand at the hubs of many overlapping research and practice networks, and represent the different eParticipation disciplines.
2. DEMO-net affiliated institutions: Institutions meeting the quality threshold not contracted to EC or partners. They are eligible for limited funding categories in connection with DEMO-net activities.
3. DEMO-net co-operating networks: Information sharing co-operations without funding with networks with related themes. Contact person is eligible for limited funding categories in connection with DEMO_net activities.
4. DEMO-net affiliated experts: Individuals (not affiliated to partner and associated institutions) with demonstrated track record of excellence in eParticipation. They are eligible for limited funding categories in connection with DEMO_net activities.
5. DEMO-net PhD students: PhD students associated with the network. They are eligible for discretionary funding for student events.
6. Interested parties: Institutions or individuals who do not qualify for any of the above four categories. No funding is available.
