Join us

Who can join?

Institutions and individuals who are interested in joining the network may select one of the following five categories to join DEMO-net as a member:

  1. DEMO-net Affiliated Institutions: Institutions meeting the quality threshold not contracted to EC or partners. They are eligible for limited funding categories in connection with DEMO-net activities. Join as Affiliated Institution.
  2. DEMO-net Co-operating Networks: Information sharing co-operations without funding with networks with related themes. Contact person is eligible for limited funding categories in connection with DEMO-net activities. Join as Co-operating Network.
  3. DEMO-net Experts: Individuals (not affiliated to partner and associated institutions) with demonstrated track record of excellence in eParticipation. They are eligible for limited funding categories in connection with DEMO-net activities. Join as Expert.
  4. DEMO-net PhD Students: PhD students associated with the network. They are eligible for discretionary funding for student events. Join as Phd Stundent.
  5. Interested Parties: Institutions or individuals who do not qualify for any of the above four categories. No funding is available. Join as interested organisation or as interested individual

Non-European members

We welcome non-European members, but they will not normally be eligible for funding.

 

What qualifications do you need to join?

Simple documentation that supports your application is expected in the form of

  • CVs,
  • publication lists,
  • web site URLs,
  • project descriptions
  • or equivalent.

Institutions and networks should provide one single name and e-mail address of the individual who will be responsible for maintaining contact with DEMO-net.

Institutions and individuals joining the network as associated institutions or affiliated experts should be qualified in eParticipation (as defined at ), and be able to contribute to the development of its aims and objectives.

Associated Institutions

  • Research institutions: should demonstrate a core group of 3-4 qualified researchers in eParticipation (or closely related topics) with existing organisational links and/or funded research projects and/or research students. Their track record should include refereed publications at national and international level and/or equivalent experience with practical innovation projects.
  • Governmental institutions: should demonstrate a track record of excellence or innovation in policy and services in the eParticipation area. This track record should be demonstrated through innovation projects, and/or involvement of citizens in the democratic process, and/or organisational units specialising in eParticipation (or closely related areas).
  • Industry partners: should demonstrate an equivalent track record of excellence or innovation in practice projects in the field.

Co-operating Networks

Should have a theme related to eParticipation.

Affiliated experts

Experts should demonstrate a track record of excellence in research or practice publications and/or involvement in projects whose main theme involves eParticipation.

PhD Students

Students should be registered PhD students with a project that has a theme related to eParticipation.

 

What are the benefits of membership?

Affiliated Institutions and Experts will have access to internal DEMO-net events, and may be offered discretionary compensation for traveling and living expenses for internal events under the same conditions as partner institutions, to a reasonable extent to be determined by the research exchange committee, and subject to the availability of funding. Student members will be eligible for discretionary funding for student events. All members will have access to the network’s knowledge resources at the web portal.

Are there member fees?

There are currently no membership fees during the DEMO-net EC-funding period. This will be changed at a future date when the eParticipation Network organization was founded.

How to apply?

  • Step 1: Experts who have not yet registered as a user of the portal have first to fill in the "join us"-form.
  • Step 2: In the case you have your user ID and password, for the DEMO-net portal, please use the online application form (will be provided soon) to register for a specific DEMO-net membership. This will require you to upload respective data as indicated above in relation to your targeted membership category.
