The main focus of ifib's work is the handling of information and the management of information technology in public administration, in schools and universities and in societies and associations. We combine research and consulting by concentrating on the requirements of the respective application field, not on technology. One specific field is eParticipation. Research has been conducted on the applied field (projects such as Media mix in local democracy, EVOICE, Implementation of the Freedom of information Act in Bremen), more consultancy-focussed (for the Hansepassage Programme within Interreg IIIC or for the Council of Europe) or research-focussed (such as preparation of the 2007 E-Democracy conference together with the European Science Foundation (ESF).
