The industry specific interest group will engage with the research agenda in a number of ways. In particular, the role of DEMO-net in providing an overview of research world-wide is felt to be a major contribution in engaging industry partners and provides a sound context for the work of the Industry Specific interest Group. As part of its occasional meetings, the Specific interest Group will identify particular topics which it would wish to explore in more depth. Exploration of these issues will include presentations from DEMO-net researchers on current research activity, contributions from industry special-ists, debate on priorities and key issues and the production of notes on the observations of industry practitioners on the topic.
A second area of interest is the comparison of the research agendas of the ICT industry partners with ongoing work in DEMO-net. Subject to commercial sensitivity, the indus-try partners consider it will be possible to bring together an insight into the work going on in the laboratories of the major companies and this will prompt consideration of research gaps and priorities by both parties. The opportunities for collaboration will be explored.
In the experience of practitioners. DEMO-net seeks to achieve this by promoting closer and more active working between researchers and industry, government and civil society organisations. - advise on research areas of commercial interest
- identify industry and other practitioner partners to engage in specific research projects
- promote the exchange of researchers with practitioners
- provide information on market readiness for particular products
- 'shape' outputs for widespread application including scaleability
- define market-specific requirements
- increase DEMO-net network connectivity and in particular contribute to implementation chains of researchers, industry and government
