Navigation bar

Up to Table of Contents

The navigation bar represents a simple and powerful way of navigating the website to find the information you are looking for. By clicking on the folders in the navigation bar, you can browse through the DEMO-net website in the same way that you use a file manager to browse the hard disk on your computer. However, all the contents of the portal will not necessarily appear in the navigation bar. Some files are hidden as they are irrelevant to the end user, some files are not important enough to be placed in the navigation bar and some files you will not have permission to view because they are subject to specific user rights.

When you are logged in, you will notice that the folders and items in the navigation bar are colour coded, red, green or blue. Each colour represents the state of the item.

Red means that the item is private. Its content can only be viewed by the user who created it (the owner) and by users with manager rights. You will only see the item if you have rights to view it, otherwise it remains invisible. Be careful when linking to such an item in a document as the majority of DEMO-net users will be unable to view it.

Green means that the item is a public draft and that it is visible to all members who are logged in. External users of the website will not be able to view these items. It can also mean that the item is not yet completed and that its content is open to future editing. When creating new content, it will automatically appear as a public draft.

Blue means that the item has been published. Its content is visible to the public, and the data is accepted as part of the official DEMO-net website.
