Demo-net workshop with leading edge eParticipation experts will be held in Edinburgh, 14 June 2006 at Napier University, International Teledemocracy Center.

organised by DEMO-net WP1 leaders:

University of Koblenz (DE) and Yorkshire and Humber Assembly (UK)

Presentations from the workshop are available here

To allow experts to contribute at the outset of DEMO-net, an initial Workshop has been arranged in Edinburgh, UK on June 14th 2006. Leading practitioners in the field of eParticipation will outline the issues they see facing government and society; DEMO-net researchers will give an overview of current research in the field.

The core of the day will be given to the breakout sessions of small workgroups, where practitioners, academics and ICT industry will jointly consider challenges, success factors, needs and barriers of eParticipation research and application across Europe through the DEMO_net network. Questions such as how research can be brought to implementation and application as well as how the needs of practice can be taken up by research shall be detailed. Furthermore, the discussion shall clarify the means to realise a stronger dialogue between research and practice and what the benefits will be for governments, politicians, ICT industry, research, citizens and the general public.

The day will be relevant to eParticipation managers and strategists from Governments and Public Administrations at distinct level, eParticipation ICT specialists and suppliers, eParticipation researchers in all disciplines, community ICT practitioners and others working in the field.
