Please send your intended presentation as Extended Abstract (1-2 pages) in Word or pdf format to alexander.prosser-at-wu.ac.at by November 15, 2009. You will be informed of the result of the review process by 6.12.2009. The reviews will be double blind.
As usual with IRIS, the full paper contributions will be submitted after the conference. The proceedings will be published at Boorberg Publishers.

Content:

Is electronic citizen participation a sign of good governance and maturity in eGovernment? How far can eDemocracy foster increased participation and how may systems become sustainable and survive the initial phase? What are their critical factors for success?
In accordance with the general theme of IRIS 2010, „pro-active government”, the workshop will encompass all areas of electronic citizen participation in their technical, legal, and sociological aspects. Both empirical results and case studies as well as theoretical research are welcome. The topics include, but are not limited to

  • eElections and referenda, ePetitions
  • eParticipation in administrative procedures
  • Participatory budgeting, participatory infrastructure planning
  • eConsultation in Law Making
  • eTransparency
  • Guidelines and best practice
  • International standards and recommendations

The fields of application include all levels of government and law making, (public) social security bodies and non-profit organizations as well as international organizations and initiatives.
