eParticipation is arguably one of the fastest growing in the eGovernment domain. Increasing participation is an area of interest for policy makers, politicians, researchers, and practitioners alike. Featuring as one of the eGovernment i2010 Action Plan’s five main objectives, a number of initiatives and trials has mushroomed over the last few years. eParticipation is also a prominent theme of the new eGovernment research focus, as it appears in the 2009-2010 FP7 workplan.

The issues covered by eParticipation are potentially broad, but all focus on the use of ICT to participate in decision and policy making at all levels, whether top-down in response to government, elected representatives or other initiatives, or bottom-up by constituents creating their own political agendas and processes. The tools used are also manifold and can include eEngagement, eDeliberation, eInvolvement, eLegislation and eVoting, as well as eDecision, eRule and ePolicy-making.

The European Journal of ePractice invites contributions of both an empirical and theoretical nature, from a policy and/or technical perspective, and/or which address current issues or look into the medium term of mass collaboration and the use of Web 2.0 and even Web 3.0 tools.
