Call for papers
The conference specifically provides a ground for researchers of distinct disciplines to come together and discuss advances of eParticipation research from distinct disciplinary angles. ePart09 aims to bring together researchers from a wide range of academic disciplines providing a unique opportunity to discuss advances of eParticipation research from a number of inter-disciplinary perspectives. ePart follows the traditions of high-level scientific conferences. It is organized by key experts in the field and will be supported by a multidisciplinary program committee of DEMO-net partners and affiliated members. The call for papers can be found on the Virtual Research Centre.
This minitrack focuses on e-Participation, the involvement of citizens in the development, use, and evaluation of e-Government and e-Democracy systems. Some of the minitrack topics are: Participatory design practice, ethnographic studies, and case studies of e-Government and e-Participation applications, Social networking and other digital collaborative spaces in the context of e-Government and e-Participation, Empirical observations of use of e-Government and e-Participation systems, Adoption of e-Government and e-Participation systems.
This special issue aims to bring together researchers from the previously mentioned technological fields and e-government and e-participation communities, covering areas of common interest. These include the following topics as they apply to e-government and e-participation, such as Enterprise architectures for government, Model-Driven Architecture and service-oriented architectures, Government 2.0, application of Semantic Web and Semantic Web services technologies, case studies and system demos based on state-of-the-art technologies. Submissions due for review: 5 Mar. 2009. To submit a manuscript, access the IEEE Computer Society Web-based system, Manuscript Central.
Events Coming Up
The objective of the conference is to provide a unique environment in which researchers and practitioners in the information, computer and system sciences can frankly exchange and discuss their research ideas, techniques and applications. Submitted papers are double-blind reviewed and published by IEEE Computer Society Press and included in the IEEE Digital Library XPlore. HICSS-42 contains the following tracks, or areas of research concentration: Collaboration Systems and Technology, Decision Technologies and Service Sciences, Digital Media: Content and Communication, Electronic Government, Electric Power Systems: Engineering, Economics, and Policy, Information Technology in Health Care, Internet and the Digital Economy, Knowledge Management Systems, Organizational Systems and Technology, Software Technology.
The track Electronic Government covers mini-tracks on Development Methods for eGovernment, eParticipation and eCitizenship, Emerging Topics in eGovernment, eGovernment Information Security, eGovernment Infrastructure and Interoperability, eGovernment Organization & Management, eGovernment Service and Information, ePolicy, eGovernance, and Trustworthy eGovernment Systems.
Recent Past Events
The 1st International Conference on Mobile Communication Technology for Development, "M4D" will be a research stream with a traditional conference design and a practitioner's stream where industry, NGOs, and public bodies can disseminate their knowledge.
The aim of the event was to: Bring people and organisations together and establish their current skills and needs, Share knowledge about current and future e-participation projects and opportunities; establish common and complementary areas of interest, Facilitate partner matching for future initiatives through a "speed dating" session e.g. dividing attendees into e-participation skills and e-participation needs, Begin to define the current baseline of e-participation in Scotland: i.e. live and planned initiatives, organisations, opportunities.
