- Sixth Framework Programme
- At the Lisbon summit in March 2000, EU governments called for a better use of European research efforts through the creation of an internal market for science and technology - a 'European Research Area' (ERA). FP6 is the financial instrument to help make ERA a reality.
- European Commission Research Area (ERA)
- The European Research Area (ERA) aims at creating a unified area of reserach all across Europe to enable researchers to move and interact seamlessly, benefit from world-class infrastructures and work with excellent networks of research institutions; to share, teach, value and use knowledge effectively for social, business and policy purposes; to optimise and open European, national and regional research programmes in order to support the best research throughout Europe and coordinate these programmes to address major challenges together; and to develop strong links with partners around the world so that Europe benefits from the worldwide progress of knowledge, contributes to global development and takes a leading role in international initiatives to solve global issues.
- eParticipation Preparatory Action
- The main aim of the EC eParticipation Preparatory Action is explore the use of modern ICT to facilitate citizens' participation in decision-making and thereby contributing to better legislation. The action was initiated by the European Parliament and was launched in 2006. In the first call 6 projects were funded. The 2007 call funds 7 projects plus a coordination action to measure the impact of the preparatory action. In 2008, the third call is launched.
- eGovernment for the people: eParticipation
- Website by the European Commission with information about eParticipation: leaflet, study, research projects etc.
- ePractice.eu: eParticipation and eDemocracy Network
- The eParticipation and eDemocracy Network of ePractice.eu is open to all interested in these issues, whether at sub-national, national, European or trans-national levels. The issues covered are potentially broad, such as eEngagement, eDeliberation, eInvolvement, eLegislation and eVoting, as well as eDecision, eRule and ePolicy-making. However, these are all inter-related and contribute to new concepts and practices for the governance of our societies.
- An overview of the eGovernment situation in Europe
- The ePractice eGovernment factsheets provide an overall picture of the situation and progress of eGovernment in 34 European countries: EU-27, EU-Candidate countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. These reports are brought up to date every six months with a new edition. The ePractice factsheets´ geographical coverage is currently being widened: The 1st edition of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is now available online.
