Digital Democracy in the Open Land

In the description of the project it is emphasized that "the aim is to offer the citizens an opportunity to get electronic access to relevant information related to administrative decisions concerning the open land in the district." The idea was to organize and publish information about Danish waterways. Primarily organized as digital maps where all interested parties (farmers, citizens, anglers, trekkers etc.) could retreive information on the spot. So while being in the nature facts about e.g. pollution would be available along with a detailed map. The idea was to develop a Geographical Information System (GIS) to assure that maps and data were as detailed as possible only a few waterways were chosen in the first case, waterways which were frequently visited by citizens and anglers.

A sub-project in the large project named "Det Digitale Nordjylland", www.detdigitalenordjylland.dk The overall objective of project Digital Democracy in the Open Land was to establish and evaluate e-democracy/ electronic citizens services in three Northern Jutland municipalities using the Internet as platform for interaction. To achieve the objective a database for geographical and administrative informations related to land in three Northern Jutland municipalities was built in order to establish an information repository of geographical information on the Internet.
