EURO-CITI
Full title: EUROpean CITIes platform for on-line transaction servicesAims:
The main objective of EURO-CITI is to develop and demonstrate a set of new public transaction services, namely tele-voting, electronic submission of forms, and tele-consulting, that can be accessed via the Internet and GSM. These services will be designed to improve the efficiency of local authority, reinforce the concept of direct democracy and foster collaboration between local authorities at all levels (regional, national, European). More specific objectives of EURO-CITI include: 1. To specify and develop a common architecture that supports among others data security, authentication/ authorisation and dynamic configuration. 2. To develop the new transaction services and deploy them on three European pilot sites. 3. To develop and test a process re-engineering methodology that allows local authorities to fully exploit the developed transaction services.
Description:

The EURO-CITI project aims to specify, develop and test a common architecture and related services targeting the public sector. The proposed services include tele-voting, electronic submission of forms and tele-consulting. Tele-voting will be used for opinion polls and petitions that can be initiated by both the local authorities and citizens aiming to reinforce the concept of direct democracy. The proposed architecture will integrate and where appropriate enhance key technologies for security, authentication/authorisation, data description, user-centred interfaces, etc. The resulting EURO-CITI platform will be dynamically re-configurable to allow for example simultaneous voting on the same problem at geographically distributed areas. The trials will be supported by a generic methodology for process re-engineering and will take place in three major European cities
